We are delighted to share news that Pleasantville100 has advanced in its plans to transition to an organization with broader impact by growing into CURE100 (Communities United to Reduce Emissions 100%), a consortium of communities that share a carbon reduction mission. Pleasantville100, working as the Pleasantville Climate Smart Committee, will continue with its education and advocacy here in our community as a chapter of CURE100. We invite you to visit us at https://cure100.org/ where you will find CURE100 offerings and many additional programs and blog posts
Pleasantville100, a CURE100 charter member organization working as the Pleasantville Climate Smart Committee, works to reduce carbon emissions in our village by facilitating community outreach and coordinating environmental program efforts in the village of Pleasantville, New York.
Working closely with our community and regional partners, we are building awareness of environmental issues facing Pleasantville, our Westchester County neighbors, and the metropolitan New York City region. We sponsor a variety of programs to help individuals, homeowners, and businesses save energy and reduce their carbon footprint, building on successful programs offered by Sustainable Westchester, New York State, and Con Edison, among others.
Our mission is to make Pleasantville a cleaner, safer, healthier, and more resilient community.
After measuring the Village’s current greenhouse gas emissions, we will identify new strategies
for energy efficiency and create a Climate Action Plan detailing steps to reduce our contribution to climate change.
In 2019 Pleasantville was awarded Climate Smart Communities Bronze certification. The Climate Smart Communities Program is a New York State initiative to help local communities
reduce greenhouse gas emissions, prepare for effects of climate change, and save taxpayers
money.
Are you passionate about protecting the environment and reversing climate change? Let us know! We are always looking for volunteers to help us make our vision a reality. Please contact us at [email protected] or @ClimateSmartPleasantville on Facebook for more information.
In addition, please click below to “Take The Pledge” from our CURE100 partners to send a message to decision-makers, companies, my community, and others to implement ambitious policies and practices which prevent the harmful effects of climate change and secure the living conditions of mankind.
Whether you help through personal emission reductions, monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn’t accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
